The structure of the human mind

Psychology tried to understand how the mind works. Psychology however made one cardinal mistake, it limited it's study to the physical mind only. Thus psychological studies could mostly observe the fallen nature and could not distinguish what is our true original state. Unification Psychology is based on Unification Thought. It uses the structure of the 'Four Position Foundation' to understand the functions of the mind. Today's quantum science completely confirms the Unification Theory of Personality. 

Dual structure of the mind

As Unification Thought states, "individual's mind has a different kind of "structure." ...it is possible to understand the invisible mind by speaking of it as if it were a structured thing." UT p.27

Human mind has dual structure. It consists of Spiritual and Physical parts relating to each other as subject and object partners. We may call them respectively, spirit mind and physical mind. When they become one through give and take action with the Heart as their center, they form a united functioning entity (living soul). This united entity is the human mind. Quantum science today reveals a lot about the functioning of the physical mind. 

The physical mind corresponds to the brain and the human instincts. In fact, it is the complex unity of the sungsang of every cell. It is mainly concerned with our individual survival; food, sleep and sex. Physical mind is temporal and limited. We may compare it with a radio receiver, which perceives the functions of the spiritual mind; intellect, emotion and will. We find 3 parts of the brain corresponding to them; intellectual brain (Analytical), emotional brain (chemical), will brain (automatic). 

Thus, even though our physical mind is not much different than that of an animal, we human beings are reasoning, feeling and acting on completely new and higher level because of the constant give and take action with the spiritual mind. At childhood age physical mind is dominant and plays vital role for the spirit mind to develop. When spirit mind matures it gains control over the physical mind. 

When man's spiritual mind (Sungsang) and physical mind (Hyungsang) engage in give-and-receive action centering on Heart, they form a "harmonized body," or "union." Through this process, four positions come to be established, namely, the center (i.e., Heart), the subject (Spiritual Mind), the object (Physical Mind), and their harmonized union (The Human Mind). The structure made up of these four positions is called the "four-position base."

This normal functioning of the mind is only possible when the spiritual mind is in subject position over the limited (enamel-like) physical mind. The reverse state is very dysfunctional and leads to selfish and self destructive behavior. Not only that our spiritual capacity will be imprisoned and blocked by the limitations of the physical mind, but in this reverse state the brain is incapable to recognize the source of any spiritual influence and easily creates give and take action with low spirits, whose life was also dominated by low physical and selfish needs and strives. This inner reversal is the main cause of all the evil, suffering and misuse in human history. 

Spiritual Mind
Our spirit self consists of the dual characteristics of spirit mind (subject partner) and spirit body (object partner). The spirit mind is the center of the spirit self, and it is where God dwells. The spirit mind has the main functions of intellect, emotion and will centered on the impulse of the heart. They are created to directly perceive and respond to God's intellect, emotion and will. In addition, our spirit mind is sensitive to the true feelings, joy and pain of the people around us. Thus it is incapable to lead us towards any evil and selfish acts. 

When the physical mind obeys the spirit mind and the physical self acts according to the good purpose of the spirit mind, the physical self receives living spirit elements from the spirit self. In this state the person is spiritually and psychologically well. When physical mind subjugates the spirit mind, this reversal of dominion results in numerous spiritual and psychological dysfunctions. 

Truth illuminates the innermost desires of the spirit mind. A person must first comprehend his spirit mind's deepest desire through the truth and then put this knowledge into action to fulfill his responsibility. Only then do the living spirit elements and vitality elements reciprocate within him, enabling him to progress toward goodness. 

This implies that ones spirit mind always knows right from wrong. It always senses God's truth. When one actually leads a life of goodness, the living spirit elements engage in proper give and take with the vitality elements and are infused into his physical self to make it wholesome. Meaning, our psychological and physical health are enhanced. In fact, living for the sake of others is the only sure way to be well and happy. 

The spirit self can attain perfection only during a person's earthly life. The spirit mind guides the spirit self as it grows in the soil of the physical self. The growth of the spirit self toward perfection progresses through the three orderly stages ordained by the Principle of Creation. A spirit in the formation stage of life is called a form spirit; in the growth stage, a life spirit; and in the completion stage, a divine spirit.

A spirit fully matures as a divine spirit when the person's spirit self and physical self unite through perfect give and take action centered on God and form the four position foundation. A divine spirit can accurately feel and perceive every reality in the spirit world. As these spiritual realities resonate through the body and manifest themselves as physiological phenomena, they can be recognized through the five physical senses. People of divine spirit, who thus resonate with the spirit world, build the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. When they shed their physical bodies, they will make a smooth transition into the Kingdom of Heaven in the spirit world. For this reason, the Kingdom of Heaven in heaven will be realized only after the Kingdom of Heaven on earth has been established.

We can develop sensibilities of our spirit only through the physical self 

All the sensibilities of a spirit are cultivated through the reciprocal relationship with the physical self during earthly life. Therefore, only when a person reaches perfection and is totally immersed in the love of God while on earth can he fully delight in the love of God as a spirit after his death. All the qualities of the spirit self are developed while it abides in the physical self: Sinful conduct during earthly life aggravates evil and ugliness in the spirit of a fallen person, while the redemption of sins granted during earthly life opens the way for his spirit to become good.  

Humans are created so that once they reach perfection they will fully breathe the love of God. Those who committed sinful deeds while on earth become crippled spirits who are incapable of fully breathing in the love of God. They find it agonizing to stand before God, the center of true love. Of their own will, they choose to dwell in hell, far removed from the love of God.



Physical Mind
The physical self consists of the dual characteristics of the physical mind (subject partner) and the physical body (object partner). The physical mind directs the physical body to maintain the functions necessary for its survival, protection and reproduction. Instinct, for example, is an aspect of an animal's physical mind. For the physical self to grow in good health, it must have proper nourishment. It must absorb air and sunlight, which are intangible, yang types of nourishment, and must eat and drink food and water, which are tangible, yin types of nourishment. The body has give and take with this nourishment through its digestive and circulatory systems.

Good or evil in the conduct of the physical self is the main determinant of whether the spirit self becomes good or evil. This is because the physical self provides a certain element, which we call the vitality element, to the spirit self. In our everyday experience, our mind rejoices when our physical self performs good deeds but feels anxiety after evil conduct. This is because vitality elements, which can be good or evil according to the deeds of the physical self, are infused into our spirit self. 


Heart
The key to God's first blessing is the perfection of individual character and heart. An individual's mind and body are discrete projections and object partners of God's dual characteristics. In order for an individual to perfect his character, he must form a four position foundation within himself whereby his mind and body become one through give and take action with God as their center. Such individuals become the temples of God,^{15(I Cor. 3:16)} achieve complete oneness with Him,^{16(John 14:20)}  and acquire a divine nature. 
They experience the Heart of God as if it were their own. Hence, they understand His Will and live fully attuned to it. When a person abides in the state of individual perfection, he lives as the substantial object partner to his mind. Because the center of his mind is God, he also lives as the substantial object partner to God. Both the mind and God rejoice as they experience their internal nature and external form through the stimulation which their object partners give them. Accordingly, when people realize God's first blessing, they become God's beloved who inspire Him with joy. Sharing all the feelings of God as their own, they would never commit any sinful acts that would cause God grief. This means they would never fall.  


Human Mind
The human mind has three faculties: emotion, intellect and will. The human body acts in response to the commands of the mind. When the body responds to the mind's emotion, intellect and will, its actions pursue the values of beauty, truth and goodness respectively. God is the subject partner to the human mind; hence, He is also the subject partner to human emotion, intellect and will. Desiring to realize his original value, a person responds to the perfect emotion, perfect intellect and perfect will of God through his mind, and acts accordingly through his body. Thus, he manifests the values of original beauty, original truth and original goodness.  

Outer and Inner Four-Position Base 

The Outer Developmental Four-Position Base: This base produces a new body through give-and-receive action between the Original Sungsang and the Original Hyungsang centering on the Purpose of Creation. In this case, the Sungsang is the same as the Logos produced as a new body through the inner give-and-receive action. The formation of a new body through give-and-receive action between the Original Sungsang and the Original Hyungsang relates to the creation of all things. "Development" here refers to the emergence of a new body through give-and-receive action.

Emotions is Sensing Vibrations: We emit and absorb frequencies

is Sensing Vibrations

Energy with different frequency is translated as different feelings by our body. In a way, the quantum realm is a mediator between the spiritual world of vibrations and the physical world of matter.

"Every one of you has a broadcasting station in your brain. You emit waves all the time, but the colors of waves vary from one person to another... The vibrations you impart... go around the whole world and try to embrace the world and everything that God created," explains Dr. Moon, but "man has been blocking.. this harmonious vibration.. (that's) the greatest of all human crimes."

Science says that everything around us is energy, and we are also energy transformations.  As recent scientific research shows, people emit vibrations as well as absorb energy from others.

"Your vibration is communicated over the entire world and you can communicate with all of creation." Sun Myung Moon

Yet, our primary goal in this life is to develop our hearts - our ability to resonate with God's love.

"because God exists, you must be able to feel His existence with your cells. Reaching that state is what matters." Sun Myung Moon, CSG p. 54

Depending on our way of life and level of heart, we all have different energetic field - Aura. Once in a high resonance of heart you find that God lives and acts directly through you. It's so amazing. In this state all of your existence is overwhelmed by His frequency of love.

"Mind exists throughout your body, with not even one cell within your body where it is not present. The same is true for God." Sun Myung Moon, CSG p.51

In the state of God's direct dominion, you are His temple, and he lives and acts through you - you and God are inseparable. That's why Father said:

"God.. rules over all our senses... you must be able to feel His existence with your cells. Reaching that state is what matters." Sun Myung Moon, CSG p.54

How vibration affect our senses? We have two pairs - spiritual and physical senses. Our five spiritual senses register the frequencies of the spirit world. But what of a person with immature spirit? He is unable to sense those vital spiritual vibrations while on earth, and he will be nearly blind in the spirit world.

That's not God's punishment, but simply because his spirit senses were not developed in his physical life. Only when we mature in heart, by living for others, our spirit can start sensing directly God's vibrations of love. In that state God's direct dominion expresses - we really become God's temple, and he lives through us. That's why Father said,

"Man's ability to respond to the true love of God was killed due to the fall. People cannot even recognize God's true love, much less vibrate with it. The whole purpose of salvation is to restore that ability of human beings to vibrate with the love of God." (Rev. Moon; 1-8- 1984)

The five physical senses register the physical range of vibrations, from our physical surrounding. The fallen nature is when one's spirit is not matured, so the physical mind is the Subject. Since he cannot sense God, nor the spirit world, nor the hearts of others - physical mind automatically originates the 4 fallen natures.

But once our spirit matures, the physical body will transmit these higher vibrations in our physical life and surrounding. Thus, only when we become perfected, God's love can be channeled in this world.

Each emotional state has concrete resonance on the scale. We have to live a life of true love, to develop our spirit. Our spiritual senses have to be developed while in a body, to be able to live normally in the spirit world.

In the chart above, we feel love, joy and peace in the highest level of resonance close to our Heavenly Parent. As Rev. Moon explains, "Both your mind and your body must rejoice in a place of happiness. Your cells, for instance, must all rejoice. The cells in your eyes and those in the soles of your feet .. the cells in your hands and all your cells must be happy, along with all the parts of your body and mind. Leaving nothing out, everything must be able to rejoice."CSG p. 108


PHYSICAL SENSES - SENSE VIBRATIONS
Many of the feelings we have come from the skin, muscles and organs - we can call them physical emotions

The Principle talks of Internal Intellect and External Intellect. Of course they come correspondingly from our Spirit Mind  and our Physical Mind. In other articles we clearly explained the difference. But what about the emotions?

Olaf Kruse, a German biologist, discovered that human bodies are like sponges taking in energy that is around us. This is the reason why some people do not feel comfortable when they are around specific people. Our bodies are similar to plants that absorb energy to nurture the emotional state. Also, we can give energy to the cells and increase the levels of cortisol and catabolize.

Don't Confuse Heart with Emotions and Feelings

Feelings and emotions are very much misunderstood. Did you hear people say, "I follow my feelings".  But Unification Thought says that they are simply gauges, measuring if something is good or bad. We have the ability to sense the frequency. High frequencies feel good, low frequencies feel bad. You experience something good, feelings tell you, it's good. You come in touch with something bad, they gauge that it feels bad.

Emotions just measure the frequency! They are not something to follow. It's immature to feel bad, and start pissing off everyone around you. It's immature to hear someone's displeased emotions and start running around, multiplying evil, gossiping - overwhelmed by resentment.

Emotions are always a product of some give and take actions, with a purpose, centered on the Heart. It can be centered on God's heart -  true love and living for others. It can be centered on Satan's heart - selfish, hurting others.

There are internal and external emotions. Those corresponding to our spirit and those coming from our body. So which ones you follow? The one which is subject! Thus immature people follow their physical mind (fallen nature); spiritually mature people follow their spirit mind (original nature).

Of course our spirit and our body have separate feeling abilities. That's because we have 5 physical and 5 spiritual senses. But which ones do we follow? Which one of them is subject in our life? Is there mind and body unity expressed in them, or they are disunited and contradicting each other?



Who controls our feelings, we or the environment?

Do you know that magnetic waves can alter your emotions. Franchezzo in his message from the spirit world, talks of  'waves of magnetic ether' influencing his feelings:

"This revulsion of feeling in myself caused the waves of magnetic ether on which the music and these images were borne to us."

But they are spirits. How is that possible? Yet, he talks of spirits get trapped by the magnetic ether of the physical world, and how they can be liberated from it, because only high level spirits can liberate from that. Meaning, spirits that in their physical life never matured to dominate these externally produced feelings, of course, are unable to dominate them even after this life. So they are controlled by physical forever. (Unless they grow somehow).

How emotions express and are sensed in the physical body

Baby's spirit starts learning emotions through the physical senses. True, the first type of love it's gonna sense is through the intimacy with it's mother. Gradually it will get adapted to that vibrational environment of love, care, protection and understanding. If not, it's human spirit will not develop. It will stay on animal level, deprived of empathy, compassion and guided solely by it's instincts.

But now scientists understand that nerve signals and chemical reactions are too slow to explain the incredible achievements of man in sport and technology. They found that these extraordinary abilities are related to the quantum information exchange, which is too fast to depend on time and distance. For me, the quantum level is something like middle-ground between the physical and the spiritual. That's where they are touching and influencing each other.

This information expresses on more visible level as vibrations sensed by our skin and organs. For example; divorce, loosing a job or any other stressful situation,often shows up on the skin first. But we so often dismiss that as unimportant. And when we miss this signs that our body is desperately trying to tell us, it tents-amount to repressing emotion.

Our sense of touch started from the womb. Today's scientists developed Brain Therapy through a Light Touch and found it very effective even in very difficult cases. This is example of how a person with his spirit can alter positively the physical state of another. But what about negative sensations in our skin, masculines and organs. Can they control our spirit in a negative direction?

How Spirits in the Body influence Emotions

Knowing from Cheongpyong about the numerous spirits in our body; How that expresses in our daily life, family relations etc.? The influence happen to be enormous and that was the very reason why Dae Mo Nim started these Liberation Ceremonies.

Our evil desires are strong magnetic attraction for low spirits, Franchezzo explains:

"...spirits of so black a hue, so awful a type, that never before had I seen.. These beings cannot live upon the earth plane nor even in the lower spheres surrounding it, unless there be congenial mortals or some strong magnetic attraction to hold them there for a time, and though they often rise in response to an intensely evil desire upon the part of either a mortal or spirit on the earth plane, yet they cannot remain long, and the moment the attracting force becomes weakened, like a rope that breaks, they lose their hold and sink down again to their own dark abodes."  WSL p.23

Just think of it; these external-body feelings - controlled by stuck spirits, constantly manipulate our feelings against God's will. That makes mind and body unity impossible. From one side our spirit wants to do God's will and live in true love, from the other side our body follows other invading it forces, that follow the very opposite direction.

How that influences the earth events (same for the revolts in UC):

"...revolts of down-trodden people, will take place, and the maddened populace are for a time completely under the control of those spirits who are truly as devils."  WSL p.24

HUMANISM IS REVERSAL OF DOMINION ON ALL LEVELS


Satan works through our Bodies (chemicals and energy)

How Satan controls our bodies? - through our lineage! Each cell of our body is connected with the memories of our ancestors. Satan uses many evil angels to induce our ancestors with lies and false promises. Under Satan's command they invade the body and influence thoughts and feelings against God's will.

"Not only 6000 years, but for a much longer time Satan has put evil spirits inside our bodies, and worked. Therefore evil spirits are completely rooted in our bodies."  Dae Mo Nim (2006.2.26)

Chemical reactions and subconscious trapped emotions subjugate the Physical Mind and push it against the Spiritual Mind. Once we understand that and subjugate our Body, Satan becomes powerless. But for this to happen, we have to quickly learn the Principle (Life Elements) and practice (Vitality Elements) so that our Spirit can grow to become Subject.

Why Humanism is against uniting Mind and Body

This was the very reason why to unite our mind and body we are supposed to deny ourselves; our feelings, our desires, our comfort.. and subjugate these inner forces. But this does not work with Humanists. They say, "I follow my feelings. I cannot go against them." They identify themselves with their feelings. But which feelings. Of course, mostly their physical mind feelings - external feelings.

And the results are devastating, "Oh, I'm in love, I cannot do nothing about it." So they fornicate, cheat, lie, divorce. "Oh, I don't like to listen the Principle," so now even those around should not speack the truth. But all these feelings are manipulated by the low spirits stuck in their bodies. Thus, no matter the good motivation, Humanists always end up going against God's Will.

Not only that, they will fight very emotionally for what they believe. That gives them amazing manipulative power to influence the group. So Churches easily end up subjugated by those humanistic members. Meaning, they end up subjugated by these low spirits, who are now free to control the whole group or church. That's why you will see such churches gradually end up nonfunctional; unable to witness.

How Physical Emotions Appear

Study shows that specific stressful emotions express as a specific illness. Quantum analyze can now make a photograph of where in the body these destructive emotions are stored as quantum energy. Formula Course and Living for the Sake of Others are the most powerful way to grow; liberate yourself and the spirits around.

We live in amazing time when our perfection and liberation is finally possible, after thousands of years of fallen history. How great that is! How great victory True Parents (Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han) have achieved.

Would these vibrations be limitless? ..no! ...where can we find people and an organization which vibrates not just in the physical world but also in the spirit world, in the vertical universe?..  What is Reverend Moon trying to accomplish?.. won the hearts of people of the West... the tie that joins us is love.

True Parents are the core vibration through which all the vibrations of the universe can be harmonized. All creation, all people and nations and the spirit world as well need this essential core through which they can have give and take with the universe.

..what kind of vibration people impart. Are we talking about a money - gathering vibration? ..The wealthy nations might like it, but all the underdeveloped nations would not want to have anything to do with such a vibration.

What about the power-craving vibration? That might be good for the ruling class, but for the people who are oppressed, suffering and disregarded, such a vibration of power would be hard to relate with.

Others might say that the ultimate vibration must be one of knowledge. Knowledge is the ultimate quest, they believe. People with high IQs might approve, but there are many more people who are not geniuses than those who are. Most of the world would respond, "The heck with it; go away."

Vibrations centering on money, power, or knowledge always lead to an imbalance. One side will be high, while another will be low. So the vibration of True Parents must be centered on true love."

The people of the secular world are pursuing their own aims. But here we are living and working for the sake of the world and the entire spirit world. You must think, "I am a somebody whose actions echo throughout the world. and the entire world and the spirit world respond... When you throw a stone into a pond, the waves spread out from the point of impact all the way across the pond. Reverend Moon and the Unification Church are throwing stones into ever-bigger ponds, lakes, and finally the ocean. We have been making waves from the smallest to the cosmic level. That stone is the word of God of which I have been speaking. The time has come that whenever I say anything, even the communists debate among themselves as to what the true meaning is.

To heal, we create the environment. The body takes what it needs and starts healing. We simply give it those elements that the body needs. We create different energy fields to affect the body and bring balance.

Give up your arguing about your limitations

So give up your arguing about your limitations. There is plenty of frequencies, just like on your Radio. You can set yourself on any of those frequencies. Tune to the reality God prepared for you and believe you are there. Nurture it, hold it, don't get destructed out of it. 

The positive attitude is the way to succeed. It's not an the easiest way. It means to feel the opposite but transform those feelings. It requires going against the stream.
